The Cordedrago strings are packed in the shape of eight (except the thickest strings) as in the oldest string tradition, not for a simple aesthetic or philological habit, but to unequivocally demonstrate the softness of the strings without having to touch them directly: the products of some current string makers in fact aim more at tensile strength than at acoustic quality, and with such strings it is absolutely impossible to make an hank with curves as narrow as a finger, except by irreparably damaging the string itself.
